What can Snapseed do?
It’s a complete and professional photo editor for all your needs. Even if you are a novice in photo editing, the app provides Auto Adjust so that you don’t have to worry about learning everything. It also provides short and handy tutorials for using the app under Insights section at the bottom of the home screen of the app, so you don’t have to be expert in photo editing in order to use this app. You can also check out this tutorial on Snapseed.
How good is Snapseed?
It’s a completely awesome app with 29 Tools and Filters, stands apart among other photo editors like PicsArt and Pixlr.
You can adjust Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Ambience, Highlights, Shadows, and Warmth with Tune Image tool. Also, it comes with Cropping in 9 aspect ratios.
Snapseed can AutoFill the corners when you adjust the Perspective of an image. You can also tune the image settings on a particular portion of the app using Selective tuning.
Suppose there’s an unwanted object in the picture, you can easily have that unwanted object removed using Healing Tool, isn’t that amazing and magical? Check it in action.
You can also expand the image using Smart Expand, which will insert content into the pic using Smart Artificial Intelligence. It’s exactly opposite to crop.
Other tools include Brush, Text, Vignette, White Balance, Rotate, Curves, and Details.
Besides this, the app has 23 Frames with adjustable size.
There are a lot of instances when we want to compare our current image ( after applying effects and editing) with the original one. This app takes care of that as well. It gives you a Preview button at the top right corner on each screen, if you press and hold it, you will see the original image, if you release it and you will get the current state.
Filters in Snapseed
Filters include Lens Blur, Glamour Glow, Tonal Contrast, HDR Scape, Grunge, Drama, Grainy Film, Vintage, Retrolux, Black & White, Noir, Frames, Double Exposure among others. Developed by Google, you can almost always expect great quality. And the great part is, you can specify the central point of Filter in the image which provides great flexibility.
Now you would be amazed to know that it provides 12 types of Vintage Filters. Noir is another unique filter which has Black and White film looks, also provides realistic grain and the “wash” effect.
It also provides a way to blend 2 pics with different blend modes using Double Exposure. Learn more about Filters on Snapseed here.

Will it Stay?
Google has shown great intent to improve it with all the Artificial Intelligence power, it gets regular updates. So, I think with the variety of features and with ease with which one can use it, it’s here to stay. You wouldn’t have to replace it with any new app soon.
Problems/ Missing Features?
You can not use it for making a nice collage. Basically, you can only edit only 1 photo at a time.
Also, It has got limited templates for adding text to your photos, which can be improved in the upcoming versions.
